While being a first time homebuyer can be a nerve racking event – home ownership is one of the most rewarding opportunities in life. For many reasons yes – but primarily – you are now building equity in yourself rather than paying for someone else’s mortgage and giving them the equity/profit every month.
Where do you start?
1.) Contact a local mortgage lender and get pre-approved. This will give you an accurate idea of what you are pre-approved for and also to help you budget monthly expenses.
2.) Hire a local and trustworthy REALTOR. This should be someone you feel has your best interest at heart. Ask relatives and friends who they have used in the past too and get their feedback.
3.) The FUN PART!!!!! Begin searching for your NEW HOME! This can be a daunting task, especially for first time home buyers. Lean on your agent and those you know for their opinions and advise as well. Bottom line – take your time – think clearly and be ready to reap the benefits of home ownership! You will know when the right home presents itself.
